Week 24: Miss Universe, 8 stitches and oh ya MERRY CHRISTmas

December 24, 2018

So I don't know if anyone of you have heard yet, but Miss Philippines won Miss Universe. But as i was hearing everyone telling us about Miss Universe, I thought, because I apparently really don't understand Tagalog all that well, that all the people were telling me that i was Miss Universe. Haha so i was just saying "salamat po" (thank you), and then my companion finally explained that they were just telling me that Miss Philippines won Miss Universe! haha i just thought it was like how they all call me Miss Beautiful, i thought they were just getting more creative!
We were able to teach a of Plan of Salvation lessons to this less active young couple in our ward and it was just so good to review what the Plan of Salvation actually is (because they were baptized just over a year ago, but have become less active). And at the end of the lesson when we were talking about three kingdoms of glory we asked them where they wanted to go, and of course it was the Celestial Kingdom, but then after that we asked them that if they were to be judged right now and would be placed in a kingdom where would they go? This made them think and they realized that they aren't doing the things that they need to be doing to be able to return back to our Heavenly Father's presence in the Celestial Kingdom. But as we learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ we learn about the Doctrine of Christ (2 Nephi 31), which is FAITH in Jesus Christ, REPENTANCE, BAPTISM, receiving the HOLY GHOST and ENDURING to the END. We helped them to realized that its the small things that help us live the gospel like: reading your scriptures everyday (even if its just one verse), praying everyday to our Father in Heaven, going to church on Sunday and partaking of the sacrament to renew our covenant with God, repenting everyday because we know we aren't perfect and needs Christ help through His Atonement! They are all small things, but that doesn't mean that they are easy to do, but I know that as we do them God is aware of us and our needs and concerns and He will bless us SO MUCH if we just try our best in all that we do!
This week i received an early Christmas present by going to the hospital to get a wart removed from my foot, in the end i had to get 8 stitches to close the hole where the wart was. It went all good and now i'm just resting my foot. Its been tough from going from being a missionary having no free time, to a missionary who has to keep her foot elevated most of the day. But we're trying to continue to share the Gospel even if we are limited in what i am able to do!
I love you all and I love my Savior Jesus Christ and the fact that He Atoned for everything that we are going through and will go through in our lifetime. I know that God has a PERFECT plan for all of us and that if we are willing to love Him and follow His Son Jesus Christ then we can have the knowledge and comfort through all the hard times in life. I know that if we read the Book of Mormon everyday then we can be able to know of Gods plan for us and we can receive our own personal revelations!
Love you all and MERRY CHRISTMAS, I hope you all are able to spend it with your families and create so many amazing memories!
Love Sister Thayn
