Wow does so much happen in a week and I wish i could share it all with you guys!
Haha this week after we taught the last lesson to our investigators sister Qara (12 yr old) and brother Augfort (11 yr old) , they're siblings and got baptized this last Saturday, they were asking me questions and they asked me how tall i am? and so i told them i was 5'9" and then their response was that they thought i was 6 foot because im so tall! So ya basically everyone things im a giant here! But its been fun teaching these kids, their dad is a less active member, but we've been able to teach them lessons with their grandma who is a member.
This week we went to one of our further away areas and and while we were walking I noticed that when i stopped on the pavement that my shoes were sticking to the ground! So i looked down and my shoes were literally melting to the ground thats how hot it is here! We were also in that area while school got out and so for a while as we were walking to our next appointment we had this big group of kids just following us. So of course i took a selfie with them and tried talking to them in the Tagalog i know!
Right now we are teaching an investigator Sister Bucu, shes a 73 years old and shes has a smoking problem. Shes been taught by the missionaries many times before, but right now shes so close to quiting smoking and after every lesson she always prays about how she knows this church is true and the Book of Mormon is true! But she said that she doesn't want to go to church because shes not quit smoking yet. And we have been trying to help her know that you dont have to be perfect to go to church! No one at church is perfect and that we have the Atonement of Jesus Christ to help us because we can't do this on our own!
On saturday as we were waiting for our baptism for Brother Augfort and Sister Qara, i couldn't hold myself back from going and shooting some basketball hoops with some of the YSA Brothers in the ward. And so I went up to them and they gave me the basketball and i made the first basket i shot and a couple more after that! and when i looked back at the members in front of the church they were all cheering me on! So now all the members come up to me telling me how great i am at basketball!
So we had a baptism on Oct.6 for the Carag Kids, Augfort and Qara. we have been teaching them since i got to this area and so its been fun to see their progression with learning about the gospel!
It's still so hot here, i cant wait to watch general conference next week, and im trying to drink lots of water! I love you all and have a great week!
Love Sister Thayn
