Week 9: Hello from Sister Tain

September 10, 2018

So haha Saturday was actually a baptism for 3 kids all of the age 8, and it was great! About an hour before the service they asked me to give a talk for it about baptism and so that was fun! The gift of tongues is so real because some how everyone understands me. or at least they tell me that they understand what im saying.
For singing hymns here there aren't a lot of people who can play the piano and so we just sing without a piano and man is it fun, because all of them are about as tone deaf as i am, but every time it invites the spirit!
ME:Hello po! Ako po si Sister Thayn (hello, my name is sister Thayn)
FILIPINO: Sister Tain?
Everyone here cannot pronounce my name and i have to tell them it about 5 times and they still forget it, but it just funny cuz they just stare at my name tag for a long time trying to figure out how to pronounce it!
So this week when we got home for the day i was walking down stairs and all of a sudden i saw a hug rat about the size of a small cat and wow did i surprise myself with not crying or screaming when i saw it! but it came through the hole in our basement where we let the water from our washing machine out (not like a american washing machine). so Sister Correa, my companion, made me stuff a shirt in the hole to keep the rat from coming inside!
Teaching the gospel in a language new to me has been something so hard, but through it all i have learned that this gospel is something that needs to be taught simply. The church is simple, and we need to teach it simple. All we have to do is live the gospel by keeping the commandments and we will be blessed! How simple is that! I know that living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought so many blessings to me in my life and I know it can do the same for everyone and that is why i am on a mission to share that message with the people in the Philippines!
I love you all and im so grateful for all your prayers!
