Week 69: BANAUE

November 4, 2019

We had our departure activity for all the missionaries leaving in december on Halloween and we went to the Banaue rice terraces. It was so fun, it is about 6 hours away from my area right now in Tuguegarao, but its up in the mountains, so super twisty roads, but so beautiful! The rice terraces are man-made and people actually live on them and there's steps throughout the terraces so that the people that live there have a way to get to and from their house. They also have a zip line system that they can send their groceries and supplies to and while we were there we saw a person in a cage like thing with a motor going across the cables. The Philippines is so BEAUTIFUL and It is so crazy that im preparing to go home! It was so fun to see my mtc companions again and to be with all the other missionaries leaving too!

The day before we went to Banaue we did a career workshop at the mission home in Cauayan where we had our senior couple missionaries help us prepare to go back into the real world and start thinking about a career and schooling! We are so blessed in our mission because right now we currently have 5 senior couples that are so awesome, and one more is coming next cycle after one of the couples go home in december.

After our career workshop in Cauayan I got permission from my mission president to visit my second area in Alicia where I have some of my favorite people in the world (my recent converts)! Cauayan my third area and Alicia my second area are only about a 30 minute bus ride apart. I got to visit Danny and Evelyn one more time before I go home! it seriously meant the world to me. They didn't know I was coming and so it surprised them and Sister Evelyn after the shock of seeing me came basically running outside of her house to give me a hug! They told me that they would pray and talk with each other about how they hoped to see me before I went home in December, and they were just so happy to see me! We talked for a while inside their house and then I gave them my Tagalog Bible that I don't need anymore now that im going home. When I handed the bible to Brother Danny he just burst out into tears and was telling me how he is just so grateful for everything that I have given them! They told me how different their life is because they have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it! After Danny started crying i couldn't help myself and II was a mess because I am going to miss them so much!!! They are my family away from home. Haha during our time together Evelyn kept say about how I really am their anak (child). I can not imagine going home and leaving them!
Me and Sister Gibson also got to see sister Camille again, our recent convert we had together in Alicia back when we were companions.

Random things that made me happy this week:

*The new Senior couple Sister, Sister Warren, from St. George found out that we both have a dream to live in a tiny house and so the other day when they took us back to our area we had the best conversation about all our dreams for when we come home from the mission.
*I realized after almost 2 months of living in our apartment right now that we have a working flushing toilet! yay
*I am adjust to freezing ice cold showers, now that we are going into the cold season and I dont go into shock when the water hits my body!

Missions are so awesome because you meet people that change your life FOREVER, the people here have my heart! I am so grateful for the things I have been able to learn about the Gospel, about others and myself. I am closer to my Father in Heaven and a stronger/better Disciple of Christ because of my mission! I love you all and im so grateful for your influence and love in my life and my mission! I know that God loves us without a doubt and that His work is so important! Have the most amazing week this week!
