Week 15: I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

October 22, 2018
So I don't know about you all but Im not a Mormon, Im a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! Since General Conference we have really been helping people to understand its not Mormon's church and that we don't worship Mormon. Every time we introduce ourselves as missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and then ask if they know any member of our church they always say no, but then when we ask them if they know any Mormons they say yes almost every time! I never really realized the how the affect of calling ourselves Mormons has confused everyone about WHO'S church this really is! It's Jesus Christ Church! So i encourage all of you to help others understand who we are and who we follow by always using the full name of our church!
So if you didn't know, English is the second language of about everyone in the Philippines. Basically everything here is in English and so its defiantly a blessing for me or else i would be so confused all the time! Like in church we sing from the English hymn book, the sacrament prayer is in English, sometimes when people are baptized they will perform it in English, most everyone at church reads the English Book of Mormon, General Conference was all in English with no subtitles. So i may be called to speak Tagalog and we teach lessons in Tagalog, but theres so much English here and so its great when i cant speak it in Tagalog i can always say it in English and they will understand me!
So i hear that it's pretty cold in Utah, well its cooled down here too just a little bit. Haha this morning while i was still in bed i had to turn my fan off because my feet were cold and i couldn't sleep. And the other day i was getting ready and i went upstairs and i realized i wasn't dripping sweat from just moving around in the apartment! I completely forgot what it is like to not be sweating ALL THE TIME! Oh and when i told my companion this morning that i did all my laundry this morning without sweating at all she told me that im now a Filipino! She also has been telling me that i sound different when i speak English and when i speak Tagalog! She reminds me all the time that i'm now a Filipino! But its now back to being so hot again, and when i mean that its cooled off i just mean that i only have to use my sweat rag to wipe away my sweat maybe every 5 minutes instead of always having it in my hand constantly using it. Haha.
So a quick Tagalog lesson:
Tagalog: Dahil mahal po tayo ang DIyos...
English: Because God loves us...
This phrase i say many times throughout our lessons, and at first it was just because it was what a Sister taught me how to say in Tagalog, but since learning that phrase and constantly using it, I have come to love this phrase! Everything is because God loves us! Because God loves us he gave us the chance to come here to earth and experience mortality. Because God loves us  He  gave us our families and oh how wonderful are families and Oh man do i love my family so much and i thank God everyday for them. Because God loves us He sent His son Jesus Christ to earth to Atone for our sins and gave us a way to return back to His presence again! Just always remember that God loves you! And if you love God then show Him by living The Gospel of Jesus Christ!
I love you all and hope you have the most wonderful week! Find a way to serve God by serving HIs children! As always thank you for all the many prayers in my behalf!
Love Sister Thayn

This is the Area that were in the most and it has some of my favorite people in it!

Our FHE on Monday with the LIapitan Family.

We were invited to Kacies 9th birthday.

These two little boys were the cutest and after the lesson that we had with the older Brother, Glenmark a recent convert age 12, they just wanted to play with me and oh man we laughed lots together. We were laughing and smiling so much together that my face hurt from smiling so big!

Brother Glenmark and his siblings live with their grandparents and this was the first time that i met His mom.
