So I survived my second Typhoon now and it sounds like it might just become a normal thing for me! Some sisters in our zone evacuated to our house again like last time, Sisters Despain and Dellos (Americans) and Sister Langi (New Zealand). And when they got to our house on Sunday night we all said it feels like they never left our house from the last Typhoon! The typhoon happened Tuesday morning and when the big part of the storm was over and it was just raining and we were told that if it was safe for us to leave our apartments that we should go out in our proselyting clothes and help those who need help. But because all Filipinos are so independent and wont really let us help them, we found our self's at the church cleaning up all of the broken tree branches. There were members at the church planning on cleaning up all the branches, but because it was raining they were all under the porch of the church watching us, because they believe if you are out in the rain you will get sick. And so the whole time they were just telling us and bribing us to come and wait with them under the porch.

The rest of the week we went on splits with the sisters who were staying with us and so I had to lead the Sisters around my area and wow it was a cool experience to see that i actually know my area and the people a lot better than i thought i did and i can speak and understand Tagalog a lot more than i thought i did too.
Haha a funny experience was when we were at a place getting food this week and i was leaning against an escalator and all of a sudden i thought i felt someone touch the bun that was on top of my head, and so i turn to look at the people coming off of the escalator and i saw an elder, who he and his companion were getting food at the same place as us, who just made eye contact with me and we just started laughing so hard because he witnessed the random boy touch the bun on top of my head as he was coming down the escalator. So ya now a random Filipino boy can say that hes touched an American girls bun on top of her head.
So the last night the sisters were staying at our house, Sister Langi woke us all up as she yelled "RAT!" so ya friday night we woke up two times because there was RAT in our house! We all were screaming and oh man was the rat huge! The first time we thought we closed the hole off that it came in through (The hole is for us to drain the water from our washing machine) but it was strong enough and pushed the stuff that was in front of it away. The second time we stuffed the hole with a shirt and then put a board in front of it and then a suit case and then our washing machine! All of these efforts were after we thought the rat went back through the hole and we couldn't find it! But the next day after we told our landlord about the Rats that were coming in our house he came to fill the hole with concrete and as he was using a stick to put the concrete in the hole, the rat came back through the hole, and oh man did it scare all of us so bad! At this point ive seen this rat so many times and i surprised myself when i just stayed where i was and didn't try to get to high ground! But as we were trying to come up with a plan to find the rat, our landlord saw it run up the stairs and so he followed it. And as we were downstairs all we heard were a couple bangs of a stick and then him yell down to us that hes dead! So ya now our kitchen is a murder scene of a rat! if you want to see how big this rat was you can ask someone from my family to show you, because i dont want to disturb you guys anymore than i already have with telling you that i have been living with a rat!
The people here are AMAZING though because after a typhoon happens and maybe it ripped off their roof or their house is flooded, they just take care of what needs to be done and they just continue living their lifes and they are still just as happy!
So my advice for the week: Don't let the big or the little things take over your life, just live a happy life and serve others!
I love you all so much and i am so grateful for all of your prayers! oh and if you want to pray that the concrete holds and the rat wont come in our house again, is greatly appreciated!
