Week 26: MY 2019 NEW YEAR

January 7, 2019
So I was on crutches basically the whole week and oh boy is it an adventure to be on crutches walking around the Philippines! Many of the people on the streets that we would talk to going from appointments would tell me i need to go home and rest and then they would tell my companion to take me home to go rest. But i would just explain to them that I want to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Gods love to the people here in this area. But then they would just respond again to me that it could wait for another day. Haha so they basically had a comeback for everything i said to them, but we continued to work anyway.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! The way people here like to celebrate the new year is lots of karaoke and loud music and these toy cannon things that kids make that are really loud. When it was midnight we definitely hear it, because we were wide awake from all the noise that the people were making!
We were finally able to teach a family of investigators that we have. They live down a really steep hill and with my crutches i didn't want to accidentally fall down the hill. The family is only available at night and so we could get a tricy ride to their house, but by the time we would be done with the lesson there would be no tricys available to get us back up the hill. But the day that i could stop using the crutches we went to go and visit them to see if we could teach them and we could! But with this family they believe everything we are teaching them is true, but they haven't come to church yet or really followed through on any of their commitments. So we taught them the WHY behind why we invite to church every Sunday and WHY we invite them to read the pamphlets we give them or the Book of Mormon that we gave them. We explained that we come to church on Sunday because its a commandment from God (3 Nephi 18:12) and that if we follow Gods commandments that we will be blessed. The lesson was super simple and we bore our testimony about the blessings we can receive if we go to church and then at the end of the lesson the Dad of the family said that he would come to church on Sunday. But then it came to Sunday and he didn't show up at church and oh man is it the worst feeling when you thought you helped someone realize the importance of doing something and then they don't do it! But we are going there tonight and we will get to know why he choose not to come.
Missionary Work is so great, its really hard and even harder on crutches. But the feeling that you get when you help someone to know about Gods plan for them or help them to realize that Jesus Christ is our Savior and has experienced everything we have and will experience in our life, is something that you can't get from doing anything else. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and i know that God has a perfect plan for us here on earth to be able to return back to His presence. And we can read about this plan in the Book of Mormon, which i know to be another Testament of Jesus Christ. I love you all and hope you all have a amazing year 2019!
Love, Sister Thayn

- This was my view on New Years Eve. We got to eat fancy meat loaf from a can that Sister Sy's dad sent to her in a package. And i got the stitches removed from my foot and so I was elevating it.

-Sister Sy taking Selfies on my camera as i am accounting to our District leader.

- These are the only pictures that i could find on my camera for this week that weren't of my foot and its condition. And plus I don't know that any of you would want to see what my foot looks like.
