Week 62: Hello Tuguegarao

September, 16, 2019

So i made it to my new area! I went to one of the furthest north areas in the mission in Tuguegarao City. My new area is completely city, and is also known as the hottest place in the Philippines! I'm just so grateful i got here right after summer season. The heat is actually not bad at all, and i don't know if that's because its been a weird cool couple of days or i am just really adjusted to the Philippines! The people here are awesome and the members are so great! I'm so excited for my time in this area!
It was so hard to say goodbye to Cauayan, my last area, i am going to miss so many people there! Sister Jenny was in denial when i told her I would be leaving because I am one of the original missionaries that found her and started teaching her, but she is left in good hands with my last companion and her new companion! I am going to miss all the most adorable kids there and all their sweetest hugs! Seriously little Filipino kids have my heart!
Well since i got here in my new area i woke up one morning with a swollen big toe and then the next morning it started to show that it had an infection, so one of my first days here was just trying to find a hospital that i could get medicine for foot. And as the doctor was talking to me about my toe problem, he was also interested in the church and he asked us a funny question, he was like so you guys go by "Mormon", is Mormon what you call all the Males in your church and "Mormons" what you call all the Females? Haha it was so funny and we said no and just told him that Mormon is a prophet and that we worship Jesus Christ and not Mormon It so interesting how confused people are about our church name! But my toe is better and i hope before i go home that i dont have to ever go back to a hospital here again!
This work is amazing and I love my Savior and Father in Heaven and im so grateful for this time that I have right now to serve them! I love you all and please pray that i will remember all the confusing roads in this area and that I will remember, and be able to pronounce all the names of the people in this area! Love you all and have a great week!
Sister Thayn
