MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody! It's officially time to celebrate Christmas here in the Philippines, us foreigners have been waiting for the -ber months to start: septemBER, octoBER, novemBER, decemBER! Not only because it starts too cool off, but only here will we be able to sings all Christmas songs during sacrament meeting for the first Sunday of the month in September, like we did yesterday. We sang "joy to the world" and "angels we have heard on high"!
This week was crazy busy so here are just some of the random things i did:
-Prepared Sister Jenny and her daughter Diana Rose for baptism.
-We taught the girlfriend of a less active 18 year old in the branch, and we hope to help reactivate the member and help them to work towards marriage so that she can get baptized!
-We followed up an 18 year girl that we taught last week and over the week she kept the commitments, we gave her a Book of Mormon and we offered her to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized and she said yes. But yesterday she didn't come to church and so this week we plan to follow her up and see why she didn't come to church.
-We went to see if a member was home, but then remembered that she was with the branch at the Temple in Manila, but we happened to teach the people that are renting out part of her house and they were super responsive to the fact that we could have a living prophet on the earth today and that the Gospel needed to be restored by a prophet and that Joseph Smith was that prophet.
-We taught an older lady with the name Baby. There was also another lady with the name Ginky. Yes the people here have some interesting names. Probably the most common name is Princess among girls.
-Yesterday at church we got to congratulates 4 family's that were seal together for time and all eternity! Ahhh i just love and miss the temple so much!
Probably the best part of this week was by far seeing Jenny enter the waters of baptism Saturday and receive the holy ghost on Sunday! She is probably the most elect person i have seen on my whole mission! I love her so much and I'm so grateful for her example of having excitement about sharing the gospel! She bore her testimony yesterday during Fast and Testimony meeting and she told a story about how her mom is a member, but lives in a different part of the Philippines, and that when she was a kid that her mom wanted her to come to church with her, but she being a kid didn't want to listen to her mom. And now her she is a mom herself and she has accepted the gospel and she kept on say about how this is what the feeling her mom had way back that she wanted to give her when she was younger, but she was too hard headed to listen. She also kept saying about how she has finally accepted Jesus in her life. All she could talk about was how good her feeling was and how we need to help her husband to receive and accept the gospel in his life too! So it was just so cool to witness that God truly does prepare people to accept the gospel and i am so grateful that i had the chance to witness her whole conversion!
I love you all and hope that you know that you are A CHILD OF GOD and HE LOVES YOU! Have a great week and don't forget to see all those tender blessings in your life!
Sister Thayn
